Static IP Connectivity
for IoT Devices

Give every connected device a permanent IP address for secure remote access, reliable
communication, and simplified network management. Choose Static Public or Static Private IPs
to fit your deployment.

Give Every Device a Permanent Network Identity

Every connected device needs a reliable way to stay reachable.

Dynamic IP addresses can change when a device reconnects to the network, making remote access, monitoring, and system integrations more difficult.

POND IoT assigns a permanent Static IP to every device, providing consistent connectivity, simplified management, and secure communication across your deployment.

Static Public IP

For deployments that require secure remote access over the internet.

  • Direct internet access to devices
  • Remote monitoring and management
  • Easy integration with cloud platforms
  • Fast deployment with a permanent IP

Static Private IP

For deployments that require secure communication within private networks.

  • Access through your private network only
  • Internal device-to-device communication
  • Compatible with VPN and APN deployments
  • Enterprise-grade network isolation

Why Traditional IoT Connectivity Fails in Real Operations

Connectivity rarely fails all at once. Small disruptions are what break operations.
Single-Carrier Dependency

When a single carrier network fails, everything relying on it stops.

No Automatic Failover

Without automatic failover, switching networks takes time and interrupts operations.

Limited Visibility

Without real-time visibility, connectivity issues take longer to detect and resolve.

Not Built for Multi-Location Operations

Connectivity that works in one location may fail in another due to changing network conditions.

Why Choose Static IPs for IoT?

IoT devices need more than connectivity. They need to stay reachable, secure, and easy to manage.
  • Permanent IP for Every Device
Assign a permanent IP address to every device for reliable remote access, monitoring, and system integration.

  • Remote Access Without Changing IPs
Connect to devices anytime using the same IP address without tracking changing network assignments.
  • Easy Integration with VPNs and Firewalls
Use Static IPs with VPNs, firewall rules, cloud platforms, and enterprise applications.

  • Automatic IP Assignment
Static IPs are assigned automatically through POND IoT’s RADIUS platform, eliminating manual configuration.

Why Dynamic IP Addresses Create Operational Challenges

Dynamic IP addresses work well for general internet access. Managing connected devices is different.

When a device reconnects to the network, its IP address may change. This can interrupt remote access, require firewall updates, and complicate system integrations, making large deployments more difficult to manage.

With POND IoT Static IPs, you get:

  • Permanent IP assignment for every device
  • Reliable remote access without changing IP addresses
  • Simplified firewall and VPN configuration
  • Consistent integrations with cloud platforms and enterprise systems
  • Easier management across distributed deployments

How Static IP Assignment Works

POND IoT automatically assigns a permanent Static IP address to every connected device through a centralized RADIUS IP Assignment Server. The process is seamless, allowing devices to stay reachable without manual IP configuration.
Static IP assignment flow for IoT device via mobile gateway.
1
Device Connects and Sends IMSI
The IoT device joins the mobile network and is identified by its IMSI (International Mobile Subscriber Identity).
2
RADIUS Receives Request and Checks Database
Our system processes the connection and looks up the device’s assigned Static IP address.
3
Static IP is Retrieved
The assigned Static Public or Static Private IP address is retrieved from the database.
4
IP is Sent to the Mobile Gateway
The network gateway receives the IP address and prepares it for the device session.
5
Device is Assigned the IP
The mobile gateway delivers the correct Static IP address to the device.
6
Device Comes Online with
Static IP
The device is now online and reachable using the same Static IP address every time it reconnects.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Static IP address? A Static IP address is a permanent IP assigned to a device. Unlike a Dynamic IP, it remains the same every time the device connects to the network, making remote access, monitoring, and system integration more reliable.
What is the difference between a Static IP and a Dynamic IP? A Dynamic IP address can change whenever a device reconnects to the network. A Static IP remains permanent, allowing devices to stay reachable without updating firewall rules, remote access settings, or integrations.
Should I choose a Static Public IP or a Static Private IP? A Static Public IP is best when devices need to be accessed securely over the internet. A Static Private IP is designed for communication within private enterprise networks using technologies such as VPNs or APNs.
Can Static IPs be used over cellular networks? Yes. POND IoT provides Static Public and Static Private IP addresses for devices connected over cellular networks, enabling secure and reliable remote communication.
Why do IoT devices need Static IP addresses? Static IPs simplify remote management, monitoring, troubleshooting, and system integration by ensuring devices remain reachable using the same IP address every time they connect.
Can every SIM receive its own Static IP address? Yes. Each SIM or eSIM can be assigned its own permanent Static Public or Static Private IP address, depending on your deployment requirements.
Can I remotely access my devices with a Static IP? Yes. Static IP addresses allow secure and consistent remote access to connected devices without tracking changing IP addresses after reconnections.
How do I choose the right Static IP solution? The right choice depends on how your devices communicate, your security requirements, and whether remote access is needed over the internet or within a private network. Our team can recommend the best solution for your deployment.
