Remote Work: How to Do It Right

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, many companies shifted their policies on remote work as it became a necessity. Even when in-person office work was back in session, many companies adopted a hybrid work model, combining traditional office life with the convenience of working from home.

However, the spread of variants like Omicron has caused numerous companies to shift back to full-time remote work for the time being.

Whether you’re working remotely full-time or just for the time being, here are some tips to keep you productive among the plethora of distractions at home.

Keep a separate space for work

Having a designated space for work is key to working from home. Your workspace needs to be isolated from any potential distractions. This doesn’t necessarily mean you need an actual home office, but having a private and quiet space is essential in keeping you productive.

Schedule time for work and breaks

When you’re working from home, it’s easy to get sidetracked. To reduce these distractions, make sure to create a daily schedule to get your work done. However, it doesn’t have to be all work and no play. Be sure to set aside some time for social interactions and food breaks.

Take time off when you need it

While getting your work done is important, it’s also important to make sure you’re prioritizing your mental health. If you’re feeling unwell or just need some time off, then make sure to inform your employer and/or coworkers. You’ll feel more productive if you take time off when it’s necessary.

Ask for help when you need it

It’s harder to get assistance in a remote environment when help may not be as readily available. Make sure to be honest with yourself, your coworkers, and employers about what work you’re able to get done and what you need additional support with. If you’re feeling as though you have too much on your plate, let your supervisor know so you can figure out a plan to get things done.

Have the right kind of connectivity

Having the right kind of connectivity is critical when it comes to remote work. With applications like FaceTime, Skype, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet, it’s easy to stay connected to your work life. However, a strong Internet connection is necessary for any of these applications. POND IoT offers expansive connectivity solutions for businesses to support their workforces while they’re working remotely or in the office.
