Top Mobile Payment Applications

These days, people tend to carry less physical cash and more cards, both credit and debit. Some have decided to go entirely digital, and switch to mobile payment applications.

If you’re looking to start using mobile payment applications, here are some of the top digital payment platforms!

Venmo

Venmo remains the most popular choice for transferring money between friends. The app and overall experience is simple, plus a huge number of people already have Venmo accounts. If you need to send money to your friends, chances are they already have an existing Venmo account.

Sending money using your existing Venmo balance, bank account, or debit card is free. However, if you send Venmo payments using your credit card, there is a 3 percent fee. Likewise, a standard transfer from your Venmo account to your bank account is free, but an instant transfer (which sometimes only takes 10 minutes) incurs a 1 percent fee. The fee is a minimum of $0.25 and a maximum of $10.

You can also buy, sell, and hold cryptocurrency on Venmo now!

Cash App

Cash App (formerly known as Square Cash) is an instant money transfer application from Square. The company is widely known for its systems for selling smartphones on Android and iOS devices.

Cash App allows you to send or request cash from other app users. It also integrates with your email account, so you can send and receive requests there. You can add "$ cashtag", a unique tag in the Cash App ecosystem that your friends and family (and others) can use to send you money.

Personal payments to friends and family are free with Cash App. Like most of the other apps on this list, credit card payments through Cash App charge a 3 percent fee, while an instant account deposit results in a 1.5 percent fee.

This app also supports Bitcoin payments.

PayPal

Despite some of its downsides, PayPal is still an incredibly popular choice for sending money to your friends in a hurry. The recent redesign of the app also means the PayPal interface is now effortless.

The app is available for Android and iOS and, at this point, most people have an account thanks to PayPal integration throughout our digital lives. You can use your PayPal account to buy all kinds of groceries, pay bills, and more.

Sending money to friends and family is free if you use their PayPal.me link. A friend or family member can send you their link straight from the app. There is a 2.9 percent fee plus a $0.30 processing fee when paying with debit and credit cards through the PayPal app

Apple Pay

Apple Pay is one of the best payment platforms out. However, only iOS users can send and receive money. If you’re using an iPhone and are mainly sending money to other iOS users, this is definitely worth checking out.

Apply Pay has a lot of advanced features, plus it seamlessly integrates with all Apple and iOS features. For example, you can send and receive cash using Siri commands, or add your store loyalty cards for quick access!

Payments from iOS to iOS and your debit card are free. However, credit card payments charge a fee of 3 percent.
